Blue October - Congratulations with Imogen Heap

Um hello and welcome back to blue october explaining exactly how I feel. History for Sale used to strike me in so many different ways about how I was feeling, but this hits wayyy to close to home. It's a beautiful song (on what looks to be a dark cd), especially with the lovely ms. Imogen Heap. I can't wait for this album. 18th floor balcony is probably going to drive my emoness for the next 4878 months though once I get it. :\

1. Take your top ten artists and get their 'emo rating'. If you look on the artist page and then click "Tags" you can see how many times they've been tagged emo:

Death Cab for Cutie 873
Blue October 7
Jimmy Eat World 854
Cursive 215
Elefant 5
Imogen Heap 13
Snow Patrol 66
Death From Above 1979 31?
iSOLA 0 (ha just because it's listed as a japanese band :)
Gorillaz 38

Tell me: Have you run out and bought the new Snow Patrol - Eyes Open album yet? If no: Why the fuck not?!?!?!

OMG, it's amazing. I cannot blather on enough about how freaking awesome this album is. I first listened to it over the loudspeakers at a ice cream parlour, made a first pass judgment of pretty cool. That's pretty neat. Then, took it home and listened for real. No, not pretty neat. Try fucking awesome. Emo kids, listen up: Chasing Cars is your new anthem. Serious-fucking-ly. It reeks of love and happiness and I'm all over that train. (PS I'm a little agitated I can't link the title names grrrr).

You are all that I have - chorus = beautiful. I love the background guitar and harmonies of the chorus. The break is phenom with the guitar. Also = lyrics = indie emo greatness.

Hands Open - little harder. By god, this reminds me of something. People please tell me what it sounds like. PLEASE. It's driving me nutcase.

Chasing cars - see above.

Shut your eyes - whoa, what is that? Bells? Keys? Background choir?! I'm sold.

Etc. I love that the cd has both "Open Your Eyes" and "Shut Your Eyes" as song titles, sounds like a reviewers nightmare. I love how each song has a slightly different feel with different instruments and rythmns. It's not the same churned up stuff in every song. The only thing that's lame? Special UK bonus tracks. HEY! I went and bought the cd as soon as i knew it was out. Why are you punishing me for being in the US? HMMM!? The Killers did that also with

The Killers - Indie Rock and Roll. You know I almost didn't get into the Killers because I listened to the cd online and couldn't find that song on there. I had seen them live (before they sold out people, BEFORE - don't get me started on 50 minute shows) and that was my favorite song. I finally figured out to coughdownloadcough that song after I bought the real album.

OH! Other purchases of the day: Phoenix - new cd, and The Reindeer Section (not son of evil reindeer, the other one with the long name I'm blanking on), and mariah taylor. Overall, good music purchase day! :)

Snow Patrol - Chocolate

"You're the only thing that I love
It scares me more every day
On my knees I think clearer

Goodness knows I saw it coming
Or at least I'll claim I did
But in truth I'm lost for words

What have I done it's too late for that
What have i become truth is nothing yet
A simple mistake starts the hardest time
I promise I'll do anything you ask...this time"

I forgot how much I love Snow Patrol. No seriously, LOVE.

I was explaining to someone that I loved Snow Patrol - How to Be Dead and Snow Patrol - Ways and Means the most off that Final Straw album, but I was listening to it and this one struck me the most.

The first part reminds me of the old kodak commercial, where the dad is taking pictures and running around with his little girl. It's one of those things where you see in the tv, the parents sitting by their kids beds at night just smiling. It is someone realizing how much they love someone, and almost being scared by it, and how much you want to give to that person.

The second section is about how you knew it would happen, or at least you thought you did till you got there. And when you get there, you are like "how the hell did this happen?" I feel like I met you just yesterday, how are we here?

And the final part is about being real. Being a real human person, that fucks up stuff every once and while. Where you have to get down and humble yourself to that person, to apologize. Then it's about the love you have for them, because you'll do anything they want.

And THAT is why I love Snow Patrol.

I love those guys. Also Greatness in Tragedy was good, I liked the new songs a lot, but it is very different with all the new people. I did not enjoy their version of Give, but mostly because I was attached to the old singing in the background. That might have been a mic problem anyways. Either way they are still good, so it's all ok. Yay!

Maybe I'll try to make a dallas show soon. That'd be great. Check'em out. Not only are the super nice guys, and mega talented, their music is hella indie mix awesome:
